Consuelo

I'm writing about my wife Consuelo Solis Pullen who died on August 17, 2002. She was diagnosed with scleroderma in 1986 at the age of 36. We had two boys at the time, ages 1 and 3. Her skin got so tight she couldn't even lift the baby up but she found ways to take care of them when I wasn't there. Consuelo had always been a very independent person. When I met her in 1978 she had just move to Houston by herself. She had no job and no place to live. She would park at all night establishments and sleep in her car. During the daytime she looked for work. She was able to find work in about 2 weeks but continued sleeping in her car until she got her first check. I met her when I went to work for the same company.

Consuelo had a sweet, caring personality and a strong will. She tried every conventional treatment and some unconventional treatments. These treatments kept her going for 16 years. Her colon became perferated on July 26, 2002. They operated on her and took the colon out but she had become septic and it caused her body to go into shock and her system to shut down. She never recovered from it. She was in intensive care for 22 days. We miss something terrible but we know she is at peace.
