Gina, Danielle's mom

I'm Gina, Danielles' mom. About 8-9 months ago I noticed a bruised like area on my daughters upper back. I watched it for a period of time and the "bruise" was not going away. The area had started to grow and become scaley. I took her to the doctor. The doctor was stumped. (He is also a teacher of dermatology) He wrote a script for cream, which did not help. He watched it for a while. (It has now tripled in size.) Then finally he did the biopsy. My worst fear at that time was skin cancer. Little did I know.........at least skin cancer has a treatment/cure.

My daughter has always been active. With in the last year her activity level has been limited. (She also has a tricuspid regurg, asthma, and reactive airway disease.) She complains of pain and aches quite often. When I ask the doctor if these could be all related to the morhea, it's always the same, "I'm not sure." I am told the etiology is unknown and treatment is unknown. I am so frustrated not only as a mother, but as a nurse. So far the doctor is "just watching it!"

Moms are suppose to be able to make everything alright. There is nothing I can do to "kiss it all better." It seems like Danielle is taking this better than I am. If anyone has any info or encouraging words please contact me at thenewsoms3@aol.com
